Drinking Age

Should the drinking age of the people in the United States of America be raised? This is a very controversial issue with some people, except me. I believe that the drinking age should stay the same.
One of the reasons I feel this was is because it seems that at the age of 15, you start getting rewarded with something. For example, on your fifteen birthday, you are allowed to get your driver's permit. At the age of sixteen, you are allowed to get your driver's license. When you turn seventeen, you get to be let into "R" rated movies at theaters. At your eighteen birthday you are granted the right to vote in elections, sign contracts, join the armed forces, and get married. This is supposedly when you become an adult. Between the ages of 17 and 18, you usually graduate from high school and go on to college. Your college years take you into your twenties. Then your twenty-first birthday rolls around. This is the age most college students wait to reach because instead of illegally partying at school, you are legally allowed to enter a bar and drink alcohol.
At colleges, you are an adult because you have turned eighteen. You are allowed to vote, be on your own, and live your own life. So if you are an adult, many think that you should be able to drink. Most kids at college go to parties and are underage drinkers. That does not seem to stop them though. I believe that the drinking age is good because you have something to look forward to, and it is suppose to help stop alcohol abuse by young people.
Alcohol abuse by young people is a very big problem right now in the United States. Kids go to parties and drink, or they sneak it out of their homes, or they get it from their friends. If the drinking age was raised this would become a bigger problem due to the fact that you would have to wait so long just to have a drink. The level should not be lowered because this would allow many more people who are not ready for alcohol to consume it and eventually cause or harm themselves or others.
