In 1957 the company goes public offering their products and services to the country, along with giving employees a chance to purchase stocks. They begin construction of their site in Pal Alto California, along with making manufacturing and marketing operations in Europe. .
             In the 1960's HP broadened into the medical and analytical instruments, along with developing its first computer, the HP 2116A, which meant that they were in the computer business since 1966. Overseas expansion continued in 1968 when it expands into Asia with a Japanese venture. Hp became one of the best places to work for and was recognized as a well-managed company in 1969. In the 70's technology keeps on advancing with the introduction of the first scientific hand held calculator that created the era of portable computing devices. Also they began a venture with china taking many trips across seas to try to work on some type of agreement with the country. News in the U.S HP opened a manufacturing site outside of Palo Alto. This decade was marked by a major growth with HP passing the one billion mark in sales in 1976, and would pass the two billion mark in 1979. Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard decide to give the day-by-day management operations to John Young. .
             In the decade of the 1980's Hp became a major player n the computer industry, having offered a full range of computers desktops portables to as big as minicomputers. Also offering medical equipment electronic instruments by making them faster and more efficient. In 1984 Hp enters the printer industry making their launch in the inkjet and laser printers that go along with the HP computers. Their printers were high quality and inexpensive, which ended the era of Dot Matrix printing. The laser jet printer goes on to become the companies" most single best product ever. In the 1990's Hp is recognized for connecting measurement, computing and communication.
