History: Cheers And Jeers

It should have been a landslide victory for the British, but the Continental Army dug deep to boost their moral and with the help of the French we defeated the British and since have had a long list of victories in war.
Civil rights and racism have always been a major issue throughout the history of the world, particularly in the United States of America. Many instances in American history prove this; such as the Dred Scott decision, where the U.S Supreme Court decided though Scott was in the free state of Illinois with his owner he is property to his owner in any state . This is one of the lowest forms of governing in U.S history, to claim that another human being is property was disgusting. Then again this is only one case in American history, but throughout most of the post-slavery days the world has come to accept one another as equal. .
Racism in the U.S is also a big issue until this day. Segregation went on until the mid 1960's; even the Affirmative Action plan didn't work well for the U.S. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of our countries most elite men before a racist white male gunned him down. Throughout his time Martin Luther King practiced the same theory as Gandhi, Non-Violent Resistance. Yet there were another activists fighting for equal rights at this time, he was Malcolm X. If it weren't for the violent activists no one would have listened to King and his ideas to solve segregation and racism. Now, 40 years later there still are "outbreaks- of racism, but for the most part we work together as an equal one.
Throughout history we can look back upon the industrial revolution of England and the end of slavery in the Unites States and say this is progress. In the many years the world has endeavored there has been a lot of progress and even today we progress little by little. Whether the progression is in technology, civil rights, animal rights, or the rights of gays, it continues.
