Influential Writers

Throughout the centuries, there have been many brilliant writers. Some writers have been very influential. Some of the greatest writers of all time have been able to achieve immortality. These writers have discovered the secret to eternal life. That is through their literature. Some writers have an awesome ability to bring life to their characters, make the language they write with stunningly beautiful, or portray their ideas through their works. Three of the very most influential writers of all time would have to be J. R. R. Tolkien, Edgar Allen Poe, and George Orwell.
First off, throughout numerous decades, George Orwell has been known for his first class ideas. Since the mid 1940's, George Orwell has been considered one of the world's premier essayists because of his revolutionary ideas about future society (Blair 2594). He has written numerous novels that portray a warning to society. According to Eric Fromm, "George Orwell's 1984 is a warning that expresses the near despair about the future of man, and the warning that unless the course of history changes, men will lose their most human qualities and become soulless automations and not even realize it" (Fromm 257). George Orwell was one of the most renowned thinkers of the twentieth century. Through his literature, Orwell has vividly expressed his ingenious ideas about government corruption and other problems with politics and today's society. Eric Fromm states, "Orwell is not a prophet of disaster. He wants to warn and awaken us." (Fromm 264). Through his novels, Orwell has expressed his views about why a society where everyone is equal would eventually turn into a dictatorship, as would every form of government (Meyers 167). Conclusively, Orwell is a man who will eternally stand out through his literature for his incredible insight.
Next, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, better known as J. R. R. Tolkien, has been known for his vivid characterization.
