Italian Culture


            Italian culture has a rich history that includes art, classic architecture, popular traditions, and customs. Italy has been a democratic republic since June 2, 1946 when the monarchy was brought to an end. The majority of the people in Italy speak Italian, a romance language. Some German, Albanian and Greek is spoken is certain areas of Italy. Italy's economy was a "latecomer" into the industrialization scene the north was already seeing. Italy's main industry was agriculture until after World War I. From past to present Italy has played a central role in the culture of the world. .
             Italy is widely known for it's artwork. They have had some of the best artist known in any time. They have contributed some of the world's most popular and most admired sculptures, architecture, paintings and operas. Italians see themselves as ancestors of the ancient Romans, who undoubtedly were one of the most influential cultures of the past.
