Iraq is a country that became a target for the United States this year. President Bush felt it is essential to go to war with Iraq. The question that many citizens have is why. Was there any justification for the 2003 war in Iraq? Justification means that an action is reasonable or necessary. Be it resolved that the 2003 war in Iraq be not justified because of lack of weapons, lies from President Bush, and loss of trust.
President Bush presents that the ownership of weapons of mass destruction that are "capable of killing millions" as a main justification for waging war with Iraq this year (Bowman). On September 16, 2003 the United Nations" weapons of mass destruction search begins. George Tenet, director of central intelligence, said that "we do not have any direct evidence that Iraq has used the period since Desert Fox to reconstitute its (weapons of mass destruction) programs, although given his past behavior, it is regarded as likely" (Bowman). The United States government went on an assumption. An after a long search no weapons are found. The only objects that are found are "two mobile weapons labs" that could have been used for weapons production (Bowman). Weapons had an exhausted search after finding no weapons at the 220 suspected sites. Since weapons of mass destruction are Bush's current justification, there is no justification for the war (Bowman). President used lies to back up his justification for the war. .
From the beginning to the present date, Bush has told some lies to the American public. There were exaggerations about what was found and about how serious was the threat. He said to his citizens that there were weapons of mass destruction, but none were found. He lied. According to Greg Thielman, an intelligence analyst for the state department claims, "the evidence supporting the charge that Iraq posed an imminent danger to U.S. security was presented in a disingenuous and misleading way" (Bowman).
