Los Angeles County School Development

Even if a school is in the path of a potential debris flow and or flood, there should be time for an evacuation plan. The plan must be detailed and include enough school buses, drivers, and a safe place to take the children until their parents can pick them up.
             Evacuation plan for the following schools:.
             Monte Vista School.
             Valley View School.
             Rosemont Junior High School.
             As parents we are concerned about the safety of our children. We also understand the severe weather that can at times become disastrous to our local and neighboring communities. With this in mind we want to propose the following guidelines in the event of an emergency during school hours.
             In the event of Floods and Debris Flow or Fire:.
             At the beginning of each school year we will prepare and submit a call list that has the name and phone numbers of parents who are willing and able to be on call for weather emergencies. This list will be used as a "human pipeline" to get warnings to other parents. Each parent on the list will be responsible for calling a "group" of other parents who in turn will contact another group. Once the parent has made their contacts they will arrive at the school as soon as possible to assist in getting all the children to safety. Carpools can be planned for families who live in the same neighborhoods. As a parent it is important to arrange this with neighbors and to know "whom" your child will be with in the case that you can't be there.
             In the event of an Earthquake:.
             At the beginning of each year evacuation routes will be planned and final destinations will be determined. The bus that will take your child to the assigned location will be decided at the beginning of the school year and you will be informed of this bus assignment and destination of that bus. It is important that your child knows and understands which bus is assigned to him/her. Teachers will be responsible for getting their class to the appropriate bus and headcounts taken to assure that all students are accounted for.
