What marks the end of summer? Why the beginning of fall of course! Fall is my absolute favourite season. The cool breeze blowing in my hair just haunts my summer nights. The crunching and rattling of those dry leaves beneath my shoes in a calm park on an autumn day. The day that my writing becomes a reality is the day that summer will truly end for me. However, until that day arrives, I"m stuck with constant scorching heat waves and rains that fall, not to bring relief, but to ravage all hopes of a good night sleep. Physically, fall is my end of summer. Mentality, though, my autumn would arrive a whole lot later. .
Labour Day is not like any other day. Perhaps not being apart of the labour force myself reduces the joy that this holiday would bring to most people. To me, Labour Day is just an extension of my two month long holiday. If this day was on a Sunday, instead of a Monday, it would be like one of many endless weekends that occupied my summer. What's the big deal?? The big deal is that it marks the day before the start of school. Don't get me wrong, I dislike summer but I hate school even more. Labour Day signals the beginning of the school year. It's like a messenger bearing bad news. If this holiday ceased to exist, would school never start??? HA! I wish. Most students including myself dread this day. My parents, however, would beg to differ. Their summer was not occupied with relaxing and chilling like mine. Nooooo. They Work! To them, a long weekend is a badly needed break that's brought upon by pass human conflicts. To me, Labour Day marks the beginning of school and another dreadful summer. I do not consider this day a holiday. It is, however, special.
Labour Day is the calm before my storm. It is the day before school starts. Hopefully, by the time that I start working, this holiday will fall into the category with Christmas and Good Friday. It could be the autumn in my endless summer.
