How is Hate in a Given Society

Many people think that hate and racism ended many years ago, but that is definitely not the case. As time has passed hate and racism has lessened, but it is still no where near extinct. Hate and Racism in different societies is very promenate in India with the caste system and in the United States where it is divided into classes. It is even in the schools and in our everyday lives. The way these societies are set up allows people to continue hate, racism, and separation.
In India they have a hierarchiacal caste system. The caste system was orginally started by the Hinduism culture and their beliefs, but now has developed and effects all Indians lives. The people are ranked by qualities about them or their way of life. They are alos ranked by wealth and power. There are four main groups that the people of India are divided into. The highest group is the Brahman, which consist of the priest, the teachers, and the lightest colored Indians. The Ksatriyas are the "red" Indians who are the warriors and the rulers.
The Vaisyas are the brown Indians and they usually work as farmers, merchants, and artisans. The Sundras are the darkest of the Indians and they are the laborers. The Untouchables are the polluted Laborers and the outcastes of the society. They are looked down upon highly. These 4 main groups divide the society and effect how the people are treated.
Although there are the 4 main groups there are also rules and separations within the groups. Purity and Pollution set a lot of boundaries within the people and it is different for each group. Purity usually has to do with higher status, while pollution has to do with lower status. It can also be about what is cleanier or has the most worth. Women are always considered less worthy than the men, and during birth they are considered unclean or polluted. They must stay away from others and can not touch the Quaran. If they touch someone in a lower class, they must bathe and change their clothes to become pure again and return to their original class.
