Gun Contol

S society, gun control has always been an issue. A lot of people still do not realize how dangerous it is to have guns and how guns give a negative impact in our society. Based on studies, gun uses increase the total rate of homicide, suicide, crime, and firearm injuries ("Pennsylvanians against Handgun Violence" 1-2). I believe most American people have heard at least a few gun related crimes from the media such as shooting in high schools and a sniper killer. People should realize these kinds of tragedies could happen at anytime and anywhere if we do not devise methods to reduce gun violence. We cannot leave the matter unsettled or the situation will become so aggravated that it can no longer be ignored. It is time to face those problems to make safer living environment for everyone. There are possible ways to attempt to regulate gun control such as developing anti-gun right organizations that have power to fight against NRA, and finding ways for legislature to re-establish strict gun laws and penalties. If these solutions appeal to many citizens, it will reduce great number of innocent victim in our society. Therefore the propose the legislature or congress to restrict the gun policy to reduce gun violence and death and limit access to weapons by those who should not have them. In addition, restriction on federal gun policy is not only for individuals, it is for everyone who has right to be safe in this country.
"Do you think more guns mean less crime? If more guns really did mean less crime, the United States would be the safest nation in the world. Based on studies, the United States has a crime rate eight times higher than the average of its 25 economic counterparts combined"(Organizing for a safer America 10). Firearms are so pervasive in America that sometimes we forget the price we pay for all too easy to access to guns. According to a report on Deaths by firearms in 1999, "approximately 30,000 people die each year from gun violence, which includes homicides, suicides and accidents" (Organizing for a safer America 8).
