Intermediary Government


            Intermediary organizations have an active hand in educating both elected officials and citizens. They are helpful in providing advice and effective solutions. They help the citizens develop the tools to solve complex problems to work collectively and become leaders. With direct connections between citizens and public officials they try and establish an appropriate balance of power between citizens and the institutions of government. As neutral arbiters, intermediaries are able to position themselves to build strong likeminded groups and help them see the benefits of greater collaboration and coordination. .
             Because they convene, facilitate, and broker other organizations ,it is often difficult to define the outcome of their influence. The fact that intermediaries are often funded by different organizations than those they serve complicate their success . Opinion polls continue to reveal that many Americans believe that the votes of numerous members of congress are often available to the highest bidder. When the news media represents a topic which the mass audience may have limited personal experience with the message is particularly potent because many audience members have no way of independently or critically judging the validity of the message news is not nesseccarly truth. On the internet, through protests, petitioning and even pressure, intermediaries, affect the emphasizes placed on a topic. .
             Whether positive or negative, intermediaries have grown sophisticated and much more effective over the years.
