John Fitzgerald Kennedy


            John Fitzgerald Kennedy was one of the most influential presidents this country had ever had. His power and leadership led the country through many changes that the United States have seen during his presidency. He was then shot dead in Dallas, Texas by Lee Harvey Oswald. On that day, the country lost a president, leader, and an overall good American citizen.
             Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. His father, Joe Kennedy Sr., was a successful business man who later worked for President Roosevelt during his presidency. His mother was a hard working house wife who took care of the family. The Kennedy family consisted of Joe, Jr., Bobby, Ted and sisters, Eunice, Jean, Patricia, Rosemary, and Kathleen. This family was very close and participated in many activities such as athletics. They lived very active .
             lifestyles and did many things together as a close nit group (www.Whitehouse.gov).
             In John F. Kennedy's early childhood he attended school in his home town. Then at age thirteen he left home to attend boarding school in Connecticut. The School he attended was Canterbury School. Here is where he learned many things about politics. He then graduated for Canterbury, and attended Princeton in the fall. After a few weeks at Princeton, he came down with an illness and was forced to drop out because of his health. After recovering from his illness he ended up attending Harvard. At Harvard he became more and more interested in politics and world issues. This was during the rise of the Nazis in Germany and the U.S. coming out of the depression. He then graduated from Harvard in 1940. The next year he decided to join the armed services. After not being taken by the Army, he then joined the Navy. .
             After going through training he was put in charge of PT109 ship. His ship usually made runs at night patrolling the south pacific. Then the first incident that happened was, during a routine patrol, a Japanese destroyer collided with Kennedy's ship.
