Is America City on a Hill?


            " This is what most people believe, and say as they learn about History of our nation. In some instance, this quote is true, but people tend to forget we are not the envy of the world. Most countries around the globe do not like neither appreciate America. .
             America is full of corruption. Media today corrupts our nation, and many times the rest of the world. The negative messages, stereotyping, commercialism and materialistic views blind us. Teens now are more sexually active, more violent than ever. Statistics show 1 in every 3 women are sexually assaulted in US. It has the highest rape rate than any other country. For example, it is 4 times higher than Germany, 13 times higher than England, and 20 times higher than Japan. All the violence in America makes it the most violent and self-destructive nation on earth.
             North Korean leader, Kim Jung Ill threatened the world with his nuclear program, and bombs. Although most don't know it, America is more of a threat than anybody in the world. We might say we are doing what is right, but it is done for selfish reasons. America wants everything her way. Leaders say, "we are the light of the world," But how do we know for a fact, that we are helping others? How can others believe or trust an egocentric nation?.
             Without a doubt, America wants everything Americanized. As you travel, you begin to notice so much American items, and culture. Even food chains are set up all around the world. Slowly, other countries are changing. As they change they become more Americanized, which means their own culture is influenced. Countries that are thousands of years old, thus rich in culture, are being changed by a nation whose history is only 200 years old! That's not even half of most other countries. Countries are forgetting about their tradition. Little by little, they are forgetting who they are.
             "City on a hill," is usually used to describe America. It means the model of the world.
