            Did you know that one person every 16.9 minutes kill himself or herself? This paper will prove that suicide is on the rise. Every day people kill themselves. About 30,000 people in the United States killed themselves every year. It is the 8th leading cause of death in the United States. Teen-agers commit suicide because of family fights, foundering romance, failed exams, thinking they are not good enough for the world and fights with friends. Teenagers have a lot of pressure from their parents and teachers . They just give up on life. There are a lot of ways people kill themselves. .
             The most common ways that people use to kill themselves are pills, exist fumes, nooses around their necks and jumping, guns, and run their cars into a cement wall. Guns are the most often used. Fire arm in the United States are used 18,765 (61%) 2/3 of all suicide attempts under the age of 25 were committed with fire arms. The second most common method was hanging, and third was poisoning. Approximately 30,000 Americans kill themselves a year. .
             For the people of the ages of 15-24 year olds, the suicide rate has increased 200% from the 1970's to the 1990's. Four times as many men kill themselves compared to women, yet three times as many women attempts suicide as compared to men. Men seem to go through with it because they don't give really noticeable signs, Sheel, who studies suicides at the University of Iowa says. Can music effect the higher rate of committing suicide? .
             High School students that listen to Heavy-Metal music think about suicide more often then teen-agers who listen to other kinds of music. Sheel, who studies suicide deaths from the University of Iowa, surveyed 121 high school students in Midwestern City of 20,000. 74% of females listen to heavy-metal and 35% listen to other music. 42% of males listen to heavy-metal and 15% listen to other kinds of music. At Miller Middle school, 139 8th grade students interviewed listened to Heavy metal or other kinds of music.
