War On Terror
One year, two months, and ten days ago, the United States was attacked. September 11, 2001, a day that seemed exactly like any other, would shortly become a huge factor in reshaping the modern world. International relations were stressed, alliances forged and most importantly beliefs and views were drastically altered forever. On this tragic day in history, around three thousand were killed as two American icons of business and finance fell. America was targeted for attack because we are the strongest. The terrorists searched to find our weaknesses and they succeeded. Killing thousands of people does make us as individuals weaker, but our spirit as Americans is strengthened. The attack came with no forewarning. The looks on the faces of people all around the United States on that tragic day were tear filled. The thought of children’s lives being shattered and destroyed makes you ask yourself, what kind of animals would commit such a horrible deed? Innocent lives were taken from us. The friends and families of the victims grieved, and even those who didn’t have relations put in their effort to support the families of the innocent victims. We were all in this together. Now the United States is exploiting Iraq’s harboring of terrorists and potential arsenal of weapons as a reason to invade the country. The United Nations has currently not found anything in Iraq’s territory, so the war between United States and Iraq is in a way postponed. If we did happen to go to war with Iraq and we lost then we would be out of a large source of oil because Iraq contains the second largest oil reserve. We need oil for a lot of reasons, but there is no reason to have to put the citizens of the United States at risk of death. There are other oil reserves that we could use. Instead of putting all attention onto Iraq’s weapon use, we should be concentrating on the protection of our country and it’s borders. The War on Terror will never be at it’s end because no one wants to settle with second best. The President of the United Stated of America made a series of announcements during this tragic time. He tried to inform the United States citizens of what had happened. “Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a serie
