All you dream about is having fun, ice cream, fishing, going to the playground,

climbing a tree and witnessing the infinite blue sky. You are left with nothing as the army recruits you in.

were the words of a commanding officer in Vietnam. This is why more than 10, 000 children are recruited each year to serve as mere fodder. Their lives become Hell incarnated!

Following this argument we need to take in account the physical aspects of being in a war. Kids live in a world of hell. It is not fair for them to have no say in the decision of fighting. These kids are recruited, yes, but in what ways? Kidnapping for one, conscripted for the other. What do they have the chance end up with? Amputated arms, legs, diseased bodies, scars traveling through young body. Those who live in refugee camps, sewers or alleyways are worsened by lack of hygiene. Therefore, their wounds won’t be cleaned up, disinfected and they would live with these deformities all their lives. War ruins lives and bodies. Small girl and even boys are being used as sex slaves to “alleviate the sadness” of the soldiers. But you and I know that’s just talk for the soldiers to get what they want when they want it. Some are even whipped, molested, raped or maimed based on race, sex and religion. Soldiers older than them abuse these kids because they know no one or no law are going to stop them. The children were recruited to serve in the army and not be a slave of it. Children have been forced to watch such acts of humility and brutality and, in turn, become subject to it or become cruel and evil themselves. It transforms these children into monsters!
