Marijuana has a big effect on our society. Marijuana has many advantages and disadvantages of it use. About 43% of people around the world want it to be legalized and 57% disagree. Marijuana has many uses, for example it can be used to make clothing and paper. It can also be used to help many individuals with chronic illness mange their pain. Some disadvantages of marijuana are that it's bad for your health and it's very addictive. Recently, there have been many discussions and reports regarding legalizing marijuana. .
Legalizing marijuana could benefit the police department and help reduce their workload. With marijuana dealers out of the way, the police can focus their efforts on more serious drugs offences such as heroin and cocaine. Also, since the use of marijuana is so common amongst teenagers, legalizing it would stop the younger generations from getting a criminal record. Another advantage of legalizing marijuana is the increased revenues the government would earn from the sales. These additional funds could be re-invested in the communities through either more or better social programs. Thus communities can benefit from legalizing marijuana. Marijuana can become a source of income for many people, In addition to those who currently earn income from it's underground sales. Farmers can grow marijuana for other uses such as making clothes and paper. Many people smoke pot for it's mellowing effect. For example, they may have issues and need to relax; it may also help them think better. In addition to the relaxation and mellowing effects, marijuana can also be used to relieve pain. Many individuals with chronic illness have benefited from using the drug to help mange their pain. People smoke marijuana and drink alcohol for the same reasons. But the difference between the two is that drinking causes aggression, which makes marijuana safer than alcohol.
