It was July 21st, 1861 we are on our way to the Rail- road, our commander is McDowell and we just about to start with the first battle of Bull Run. We are surrounded by a lot of soldiers from the union and I can see that the confederate send a lot of soldiers too. When we crossed the rail road the battle started, it was a long and hard fight and a lot of soldiers died for both sides. Now we can tell that this war will not be short, it will be long and very hard war to both sides.
Four months past with out any battle. Until May 31st, 1862, we fought against the confederate in the battle of seven pines. I"ll never forget this battle; it was very hard and long battle. There were dead bodies all over the place. I was really close to die in this battle, a white soldier came to me from the back and all most shot me, but then a friend of mine shut him and kill him. I was really thankful to him, he saved my life. .
The next battle was in December 13th, 1862, it was really hard fight and we lost 12,000 soldiers. A lot of friend of mine died in this battle and I lost my best friend Jamal, it was really hard for me to get over it. I was the one that had to talk with his family and his mother took it really hard. He was only 16 years old when he died. I was 18 years old at this time. It took me very long time to get over it and I was afraid that I couldn't get over it at all. It still harts me to think about that even now. .
A month later it was July 1st, 1863 we got another 15,000 soldiers and I mat my friend Jeff, he was from the same city as me. We use to work together and it was really nice to meet him after 3 years that I didn't meet anyone that I know. Finally I had someone to talk with. He told me that my family still alive and they miss me a lot.
I was happy to hear that everything is good with my family and they still alive.
