Tang and gupta dynasty

Many civilizations have experienced a time known as a golden age. This is when the civilizations grew and prospered in many ways. Two civilizations that experienced a golden age were the Tang dynasty in China, and the Gupta dynasty in India.

Under the Tang, China experienced its golden age. The Tang dynasty built a great empire, conquering territories deep into central Asia as far as present day Afghanistan. The Tang dynasty, because of its many advancements, it attracted Korea and Japan, and they developed the ways of China.

Under the Tang dynasty there were many advancements in the areas of government and economy. The Tang dynasty rebuilt a bureaucracy and restored the civil service exam, to appoint educated officials in government positions. Schools were also set up to prepare students for the exam and devel


The Gupta dynasty also experienced a golden age. They had many advances in different areas such as learning, architecture, literature, mathematics, and medicine.

The advances that were made in math were the simple system of writing numbers, the concept of zero, and the decimal system. The Guptas also advanced in the area of medicine. Surgeons were skilled in performing plastic surgery to repair facial injuries. Doctors also began vaccinations against illness and disease.

A system of land reform was also developed. The Tang Empire redistributed land to peasants which weakened the power of large land owners. Government revenues were increased since the peasants now paid taxes.
