What if my essay were to turn into a story? Would the teacher accept that? The purpose, after all, is to develop ones writing skills for college. Essays are good, their writing is a necessary skill required of all students, no doubt, but what about other forms of literature? One not encouraged by teachers since elementary, the story. Are we expected to contain our imaginations, fit them into the pre-selected mold of an essay? I think not. We should be allowed to let our imaginations fly, with no boundaries, no guidelines, no inhibitions.“Because the five-paragraph essay is a chosen vehicle for measuring a student's writing proficiency, it is essential that each master this patterned format writing to score well.
