             "Approximately ninety percent of all Americans consume caffeine in one form or another everyday. More than half of all American adults consume more than 300 milligrams of caffeine per day" Owen (1998). This makes it America's most popular drug by far. Many people have no idea how severe this is on their body, but, in fact, it has a negative impact on them. Caffeine should be used in considerable moderation because it comes with addiction, withdrawal, and overdosing that causes many side effects on the body and brain. Caffeine is a drug and people need to focus on that point and cut back on its usage.
             Caffeine, a stimulant, is a chemical compound made from hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon, and oxygen. The chemical formula for it is C8H10N402. "Caffeine is a white crystal-like powder that is derived from a plant" Caffeine (2002). It can be found in many forms such as drinks and pills. The drinks most commonly found having caffeine in them are coffee, tea, and sodas. Alertness pills, such as Vivarin and No Doz and pills with aspirin in them, contain caffeine also. Caffeine products like these put an extra boost in a person's day. It is so hard to escape caffeine because it is all over the place. People feel that caffeine is harmless because it is found in everyday products, but if they only knew the truth. Caffeine can actually be a pretty serious thing if not taken responsibly because it does come with many side effects.
