The Health Effects of Caffeine


            Caffeine is a drug consumed by over 90% of people in the world today (6300000000) people worldwide. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant produced too make you feel awake, focused and "in the zone". But caffeine carries many health risks. The www.healthline.com states caffeine can cause things such as: Weight gain, over stimulation of the adrenal gland, addiction, jitters, withdrawal and even in some cases death all common side effects of many other drugs. Even with these side effects many adults, mainly college and high school students agree that a morning coffee is the best way to ensure they'll be content throughout the day, so they can focus and stay awake long enough to ensure finished work that has been made with thorough detail.
             Not only is caffeine bad for your health it is also destructive to your pocket. According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) over 90% of the population drink Coffee twice a day, Coffee is not the only food product containing caffeine though. Others include: tea, chocolate, energy drinks and other carbonated beverages. Just considering coffee though, the average price for a barista made flat white is $5.20 since the average adult buys 2 this equals 5.2 x 2=10.40 x 365 (to find how much you buy a year) this equals $3796.00 per year, this money could be used instead to buy a top of the range laptop. I believe that the public should become more educated on the act of consuming caffeine so that they know of the risks it could have on them. That money could be used instead to put towards a college or university fund to ensure yourself a better future. If we keep abusing caffeine the way we do these days, we may see a drastic decline of students attending colleges and universities as they have wasted their money on a simple caffeine addiction. .
             With the many health defects caffeine can have on your mind, it also provides many benefits.
