Oedipus

Oedipus was born into a cursed life in which he had no control. The separation from his parents after the prophecy would not change his fate. He was born and raised by people whom he thought to be his parents. He behaved in a manner that any normal person would under his circumstances. Unaware of the situation he was in, Oedipus could not be blamed for his actions. .
In the beginning of the story, Oedipus is given his fate by a blind prophet. He is deemed to kill his father and marry his mother. When the news is broken to his parents, they decide to have Oedipus sent out on his own to die. Oedipus has no memory of his parents and no way to recognize them. Living in his new home, he presumes that the people he has known as his parents for the past twenty years are, indeed, his parents. .
The opposition at hand is that Oedipus should have investigated the matter thoroughly after he was aware of the rumors surrounding him. Who, after twenty years, would look into such an absurd allegation? There was no hard evidence supporting this rumor that surfaced after two decades.
After the prophecy of Oedipus was revealed, he left the only family he had ever known in order to prevent the prophecy from taking place. Even though he was skeptical about the scenario, he chose to do the best and safest thing, and leave town. He did not stay and completely ignore the prophecy with the chance that it might not be true. He left because he felt if there was a shimmer of truth and it was remotely possible, he did not want to risk harming his parents. This is not an act of irresponsibility or hate, but an act of love. He loves these people and does not wish to harm them. Oedipus, to this point, has done everything in his power to keep from making the prophecy come true.
When Oedipus meets the man in the road on his journey away from his parents, he has no idea that it is his real father. As far as he knows, he has just left his father to keep from killing him.
