Before Islam, Arabs had no cultural centers as there have been in Persia and ancient Greece. There were some cultural centers on the outskirts of Yemen and Hijaz. Yet, they had been receptive of any intermingling with other civilizations, especially when Islam spread urging them to ask for learning.Muslims gave due attention to both religious (Naqliya) sciences (reading, interpretation (Tafseer), Hadith, History, Fiqh, Grammar, and Literature) and mental sciences (Philosophy, Geometry, Medicine, Chemistry, and Geography Islam freed minds of delusions and urged people to learn, encouraged them to read and criticize, honored the worshipper who learns more than who does not. Islam relied on certain basics to motivate Muslims to learn. These basic were: · Discarding atheism, fables and delusions. · Asking to general learning and teaching from birth till death. · Consider thinking as an Islamic Duty. · Urging critical reading to events and actions, Individualizing responsibilities. · Encouraging work for God’s sake not for persons’ credit.
