... important quality of a good novel based on the Star Trek TV series, or for that matter on any TV show or movie, is the correspondence between the plot of the book and that of the source. One would expect at least a bit of harmony and accordance between the spirit of the loved science-fiction series and that of the books based ... on it. Although this book had several moments of suspense, I would not say that this is a masterpiece by any means. Perhaps the author simply does not have what it takes to write a good Star Trek ... the Maquis, he had a look of extreme contempt on his face. I...
Ray Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451, a science fiction novel, in 1953. The title F451 refers to the temperature at which books will begin to burn. This is a book that takes place in futuristic America during the 21st century. No particular year is given, however, 2 atomic wars have already been fought. Minorities objecting to books that offended them caused the beginning of the book banning. Soon, all books began to look the same, to avoid offending anyone. This did not help, and society as a whole, decided to simply burn books rather than permit a conflicting opinion. This represents ignorance ...

Throughout the first ten chapters of this book it talks about how slaves were beat to near death many, many times. For example, just when the book starts in the very first chapter Fredrick Douglas talks about his very first experience of seeing someone getting beaten. He saw ... his Aunt Hester get beat on her naked body to the point where she was totally torn up and bloody. Another thing that shows how bad they ... of the slaves stupid. "The little woman who wrote the book that started this great war." A famous quote stated by President Abraham Lincoln. Harriet Beecher Stowe's, Uncle Tom's Cabin, helped to turn the tide of public opinion against slavery in the 19th century. This controversial novel was initially written to question slavery and to convince people of its wrongness. It was the first book that brought the problem of Negro slavery in America to the attention of the world. It became not only a bestseller, but a social documentary of the lives of slaves. Uncle Tom's Cabin, provides a definant protest against the soc...
This extraordinary novel tells about a Japanese family that struggles to remain a family while living in an internment camp. The only thing that gave them the endurance and heart to go on was their national anthem. "May thy peaceful reign last long. May it last for thousands of years, Until this tiny stone will grow into a massive rock, and the moss will cover it deep and thick." This family goes through many hardships while living in Manzanar, some of them being having to live in barracks, living with a drunken father, and not eating their traditional foods. In my opinion, "Farewell to Manzan...

Book Report summary of, "Bless the Beast and Children" By: I enjoyed reading Bless the Beast and Children by Glendon Swarthout. The story takes place in Presscot, Arizona, where six boys were sent to a camp to make them into men. The six main characters are Goodenow, Teft, shecker, the two Lally brothers, and Cotton. It is my belief that defendants should never face a jury of their exact peers. The effect of allowing the defendant to go to court of there peers would destroy the whole system of what this country was built on. In our country's history blacks have fought to break threw racism and women, the right to vote. There have been so many battles won in our country with juries far from having anything in common with the defendant. If defendants where allowed to have juries of there exact pears the justice to the victim would be detrimental. A Jury of exact peers would have a limited view of the subject...

Communism Try to envision a world without structured social classes, without hunger, with pain. No man will triumph victorious over the other, and to belittle someone, is to belittle yourself. This sounds quite familiar to most, but most doesn't exactly understand what all this means. Communism is what they called it, but this was more then just a name, it was a new contender for the top dog amongst the other super systems. At its beginnings it was devised to be a perfect system. Its creators tormented over books based on the past and present systems of there time. There was but only one probl...
"I have a dream" was the very first words that were ushered by the great Martin luther king jr. that touched the whole world. This remark gave hope and perseverence to many around the world trying to struggle and fit in with white people. People like Martin Luther king should have been held up high, people like him didnt care about themselves but cared for only the brothers t...
The Pine Barrens John Mcphee's "The Pine Barrens" is a unique descriptive novel, the novel deals with nature and all it's beauty. The story is easy to follow and easy to understand because it is being told through the eyes of a non-partial naturist. The novel was intriguing because it was so relatable to Philadelphia, the fact that the actually Pine Barrens are only about fifty miles away meant that whatever Mcphee experienced throughout the book was not far fetched form what I"d experience. The proximity on which Mcphee relates the Barrens to New York City meant that I've been past that value...
