Two of Shakespeare's greatest and well known works are A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet. In the two stories, there are many paralleled similarities that are very noticeable, and some that aren't as noticeable. First and foremost, the two stories are about star crossed lovers, one with a single pair, being Romeo and Juliet, and the other with two pairs, Lysander and Hermia, and then Demetrius and Helena, though Demetrius sought after Hermia love until the love ... spell with put upon him. Evils of Christianity It has been my experience, through my upbringing as a Christian, that Christians are often blind to the evils of the religion. They are taught from a young age that God is almighty, and should never be questioned, so the less-finer points in the religion are often skipped over. Many problems in society have arisen from this religion, which include discrimination, anti-Semitism, sexism, violence and war. Christianity has fought over hundreds of years to become the only religion, scaring people away from other religions in the process. Christians continuously fight among th...

Restoration Drama In my opinion the restoration of the "Last Supper" by Leonardo De Vinci was necessary to salvage at least part of Leonardo's original work. I have always appreciated the character that years of patina add to furniture and probably would have appreciated the same in the "Last Supper". If I were to have seen it prior to it's restoration and was unaware of all the previous attempts I would have felt they should have left it alone and would have thought the restoration was too much. Keeping in mind that Barcilon did uncover some of Leonardo's original work was worth the restorati...

The Controversy of Tracking The idea of "tracking" came about in the beginning of the 20th century, and has been surrounded by much controversy. "Democracy" is a difficult term to define. What one person defines as an "ideal case" another person refutes as not representative of democracy in the slightest bit. The term has been modified throughout history to fit the diverse forms of government that have titled themselves a democracy and has wavered significantly from its philosophical ideal. Democracy literally means "government by the people" and in Athens the demos were the poorer people. Prerequisites for Successful Implementation of Democracy: - In social aspects, there has to be an educated mass with strong sense of political consc...

Many times we face similar upsets in life not because we didn't learn the first time, but because the lesson is supposed to bring another level of definition, we may fully comprehend what is to be learned from the first mistake, and then find the lesson comes again, this time to help us see it from a different perspective. Sometimes our mistakes are not supposed to teach us many different lessons, as much as they are supposed to help us understand one lesson in many different ways. A lesson doesn't necess...
