In the first passage Orwell described victory mansions, which, in great contrast to its name is described as ... in the book. To give the reader a sense of how powerful Big Brother is, Orwell uses diction like "enormous", "heavy", and "ruggedly handsome.". The passage from One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest is filled with diction as well. Kesey is describing the head of the ward, Miss Ratched....
