Airport Security

Without the right incentives these people (the screeners), will not give the interest nor will they take their job as seriously as they should. The technology aspect of airport security is the next problem. While at this point there has been some improvement in the technology of airports, there is still a ways to go. Airlines along with the government are testing large explosive-detection systems "machines that sniff out bombs in luggage (Donnelly 20). These machines are to be in the entire nations major airport by years end. The problem is that "this equipment is not ready for primetime- states former American airlines CEO Robert Crandall. Airport security has reached a point where technology has reached its limit and its advancing will be a slow process. The last main problem with airport security is the policy issue, policy meaning the way that the whole process of airport security is operated. At this point in time most of the security of the airport is ran by the airlines, although the government is working on the process to make a change. The problem with the airlines having control with the security of airports is that their main concern is producing money, not having a safe flying environment. Airlines try to get past all the security regulations as cheap as possible, basically making security very simple to breach. With 3000+ dead in results to September 11th, such tragedy has affected us many of us in different ways, some in a greater way then others. None of us want for such disaster to occur again, this is something that we need to take seriously. .
A proposal will be raised, one that will seal those gaps left with the issue of airport security. Too many airport employees of unknown or questionable backgrounds are given access to secure areas 16% had undergone incomplete background checks, and 19 % no checks at all. Since the main problem with airport security lies within the screeners, it will be mandatory that anyone seeking to be a screener, has to pass a very intensive background check.
