"The United States does have the means to impose its will, but we must put limits on what we should and should not do. Our government should not put troops on the ground to hound those who send suicide bombers to Israel, or to dismantle Jewish settlements in the West Bank." That statement clearly shows that he believes that the United States should not go to war over this. He backs it up by referring to the "unsuccessful role of the British in the 1930's and 940's ." He then criticizes all of the previous peace plans that have been tried and says they will not work without the full power of the United States. .
In his third paragraph he makes his most valid claim. He argues that the "most effective" way to stop the fighting from both sides is to take economic measures against them. This is a strong argument because he has support and facts to back it up. He shows that the United States provides Israel with approximately $4 Billion of financial support a year. He also provides a solution to the problem. He states that it costs approximately $1 billion a year to "defend, support and increase settlements in the West Bank and Gaza." His claim of cutting the financial support to Israel would hurt them is valid as he proves that Israel needs the support to keep the West Bank and Gaza settlements running. .
He continues his valid argument by taking into account the opposing view. He states that there would be "an outcry among some supporters of Israel," if the United States cut some of the financial aid that is provided to Israel. He then makes the claim that there would be more Jews in Israel and the United States that would support the end of settlement than a lot of politicians think.
