            As an African American Educator working in the Catholic School System,.
             my vision for the future reflects upon the minority students who attend Catholic school in California. Being a member of a minority group, I feel very comfortable in expressing my thoughts and views on the future issues of educating the minority youth and the culturally disadvantaged.
             There are many myths in education about these diverse students. .
             For example, that these students are not expected to be high achievers,.
             or they will be high school drop outs.
             To teach our youth of today, one aspect of teaching that must be recognized is that in order to have a more productive classroom with higher expectations of learning, one must acknowledge and appreciate the different cultures that exist in our schools. .
             The future will bring about a change in our Catholic Education System.
             As the population changes, we need to think about how we can best capture the attention of students from a variety of backgrounds.
             The schools will provide a stronger multicultural curriculum. There will be a need for teachers to use specific learning strategies to give instruction to students. .
             Since the California state legislature passed the law approving school vouchers, students may attend any private school they desire. With this law, students are now able to take advantage of the unique aspects of Catholic education and attend any Catholic school of their choosing. .

             What will happen? Students will come from the mostly "inner city" sections to find a better neighborhood school in which to receive a quality education. Will the school have a plan to deal with this new generation of students?.
             The Catholic Schools of today will shape the society of tomorrow. .
             Our educational system as a whole in the 21st century will become increasingly multicultural. Students will more frequently come from lower socioeconomic status than has previously been the norm.
