Analysis of Some Trees

 

            The poem "Some Trees" proposes a relationship between the "trees" and people, "you" and "I". "These" actual few "trees" are "amazing". They "each" join another in some kind of silent magical performance. Even though the "trees" are "still", they do not have to communicate through "speech" as "we" do. Every single one of "these" "trees" arranges by "chance" or fate through natural processes or seeding, but how exactly do they "meet"? Why is "this morning" any different from the rest? These questions go beyond my knowledge as of right now. The first six and a half lines establish no references to any life form other than the "trees". Therefore, the first component of the poem describes the actual "trees". .
             Now, the rest of the poem contains text that relates the "trees" to "you"and "I". "Suddenly", at this moment, "you" and "I" become what the "trees" are representing. "That their merely being there/Means something" explains that the "trees" survive for a reason. They may "tell" "us" that "we" reside here by "chance", or them being at the same place, time, and day as "us" "means" we have a bond with "these" "trees". "That soon/we may touch, love, explain." "You and I" "may" "soon", today or sometime next week, develop a realtionship such as the "trees" communicating through "speech" or "still" notions of our feelings. "And glad not to have invented/such comeliness, we are surrounded:". This "I" in the poem is "glad" not to have the daunting task of inventing "chance" or the beauty of "trees". "Trees" and instances of meeting someone new surround "us" everyday. For illustration, when you walk on campus you see plenty of "trees" "joining" together, and when you step onto the shuttle it fills with strangers that you "may" or "may" not talk to. "A silence already filled with noises" represents the way the "trees" or you and I do not have to make "noises" or speak to "each" other in order to "explain" their/our feelings.
