Interface Design

 

            
             The aim of this project is to examine the Qube2 server and redesign this material into a new format for a delivery method.
             This project is focused on the better interface design for the Qube2 server, which contains bulk learning resources include lectures handouts, multimedia resources and exercises.
             This project is to be completed with a three-month production lifecycle. The product will be finished in the "Alpha" stage. The issues of technology, personnel, and budget will be discussed within this report.
             Introduction.
             The Qube2 server (http://qube2.linst.ac.uk) contains large quantity of information, lecture notes, and multimedia resources. Qube2 is hosted in the LCP web server, the information within is uploaded by the lecturers or tutors, and deliver to the students through the World Wide Web. The main target users of Qube2 is students studying in Digital Media and related subject, they can be benefited by the server to easy access data of their courses and lectures, and also gain recourses for their projects.
             The website structure of the Qube2 server can be divided into 2 parts, which is the "Library" part and the "Exercise" part.
             Within the "Library" part, it includes lecture notes, handouts, and multimedia files. For the "Exercise" part, it includes works of students and image resources for digital media.
             .
             Analyse of the current system.
             Navigation.
             The navigation of the current system is "layer by layer", which is similar to Windows Explorer in the Windows OS, accessing files through folder layers. This type of file accessing method is also similar to the FTP server. This structure is suitable for expert users or the developers; it is because they know where and how the files are being allocated. However, for novice users or students who are not familiar with the system, they will find it hard and time-consuming to find out what they want.
             File Architecture.
             The information and resources inside the Qube2 server has been divided into 2 parts, which is "Library" and "Exercise".
