Should Human Cloning be Allowed?

Ever since cloning became a controversial issue in February 1997, people have been wondering whether it is ethically and morally right to clone humans. The possible ability to clone human beings is now being deeply explored and people are even more concerned whether it is actually right or wrong.
             .
Cloning is a method that involves the production of a group of identical cells or organisms that all derive from a single individual. The key feature of each human being is that he or she presents a combination of genotype and the interaction with the surrounding environment, which is unique. Cloning can be regarded as the main factor which will take away this unique formation of each individual. By undermining this distinction between people and their uniqueness, we are actually disregarding our differential esteem for human life. The possibility of widespread acceptance of human cloning could lead our society to regard all people as being virtually replaceable or interchangeable. In other words, if it became possible to make identical copies of individuals, the reality would be that their existence would not be as important due to the ability to manufacture the exact same clone. Therefore, we would eventually lose that one thing that holds human society together-the notion that all humans are owed unconditional respect.
Using cloning to produce offspring for the sake of their organs is an issue we must also face and question whether or not it is morally right. If we decide to clone human beings for the purpose of creating appropriate transplant tissue such as bone marrow or kidney, automatically, we demean the person cloned for the purpose. No one will ever approve a killing of a human being for the sake of their organs, but many will have no objections to cloning thousands of individuals that completely resemble each other. Technology seems to take away many morals that we have worked so hard to install within society.
