The BPP wanted to make life for black people much better and equal to whites so they initiated the ten-point program that basically called that all blacks get treated fairly as stated in their constitution and an immediate end to police brutality as well as they set-up over 35 different community programs to help people in everyway such as food, housing, breakfast, education, legal aide and much more. The FBI accused the BPP of being a communist organization that was just a cheap excuse to try and shut them down. The FBI went even as far as accusing the BPP of being supported by an outside communist country but to make matters straight they were neither communist nor supported or guided by any communist nation in the world. If an outside nation helped them, the BPP would have probably had better weapons and training like the IRA in Ireland and would have caused more damage and been more of an terrorist organization helped by an outside spy agency such as the KGB. The BPP had great success in the community and even had support from outsiders on a large broad international scale, especially when they raided the California State Legislature which was intentionally trying to pass a bill that would forbid the carrying of firearms in public that was aimed directly the BPP.
The BPP had a famous quote that stated "I"d rather die on my feet than live on my knees". The Panthers really did stand up for the rights of the blacks in America that were oppressed and it was so radical at the time that many people couldn't believe the fact that a black man armed with a gun could stand up to a cop and call him a pig. The Panthers patrolled their neighbourhoods and "policed the police" to make sure they were doing their job right and not infringe anyone's rights.
