             Gay marriage is something that is slowly making it's way into every community. At first, the thought of gay marriage was completely out of the question due to religious beliefs, but now we are seeing more of it due to government intervention. Arguments over gay marriage cover basically every topic you can think of, and many of them being based on religious ideas. When people begin to debate on this proposition it is quite easy to be bias because the people who are having an opinion on it are not always homosexual. Therefore, we must look at exactly why people should be able to be legally united, and do this without any form of racism or bigotry.
             For every argument against gay marriage there seems to be a rebuttal that is quite logical. The first argument which goes against gay marriage is the fact that they cannot procreate, therefore have no reason to be married. The answer to that is the simple fact that if you are heterosexual, and unable to procreate, you are still allowed to be married. It does not matter if you are unable to reproduce because of infertility, age, or other causes, you are still .

             The next argument as to why gay people should not be able to be married is that it is against religion. Well I think that it is time that some people begin to realize that even though our country is predominantly some form of Christianity, we are by no law required to believe in any religion at all. Yes, being homosexual is wrong according to the Bible, but we cannot use that to dictate law unless we are going to use it to rule everything that needs a law placed on it. .
             Another reason coming from straight people opposing gay marriage is that they feel as though homosexual marriage will devalue the institution of marriage.
