Biographical information about the author: William Shakespeare was probably thought to be the most influential playwright of the time and even today is considered a huge part of literature, particularly English literature. Shakespeare was born in 1564 in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, England. He was born into an upper-middle class family that was fairly well respected. His father was a high baliff and received a coat of arms, which was one of the highest honors that could be granted. He attended grammar school but did not go to a university and his education was limited beyond then. Later he married an older woman named Ann Hathaway and had three children. The first was a girl and the second two were twins, a boy and a girl. The boy died a few years after his birth. Around the 1950's he left his family behind and began acting and writing in London. He soon became very famous and he was the favorite of many rulers. He finished out his career in Stratford and died in 1616 wealthy and renowned. At fifty-two he died as being on of the most popular and most important people of the English Renaissance theatre. .
Plot summary:.
The play Julius Caesar begins in Rome in February, 44 BC. Caesar had just finished completing a victorious battle in Spain. In the beginning of the story, the setting takes place at a celebration to welcome Caesar home. The celebration was interrupted by two characters named Flavius and Marullus. During this interference the hatred of some for Caesar is revealed. They scorn the citizens for leaving their duties to come and honor a ruler that is unworthy of praise. Meanwhile, a soothsayer shouts for Caesar to beware of the Ides of March. This is the fifteenth of March, a day in which this particular onlooker warned Caesar about. After ignoring the warning, Caesar leaves for the Feast of Lupercal. .
Later, two of Caesar's best men, Marcus Brutus and Cassius, converse expressing their disbelief in their kings ability to do his job.
