A Night At the Movies

Movies are a key source for entertainment. While some people prefer to go to a theatre, others would rather cuddle up on their couch in front of their own television to watch. One of the main reasons people enjoy movies so much is that anyone can relate to a certain character in at least one movie. In fact, there are so many different kinds of movies that it would be difficult not to relate to one. Most movies can be divided into three basic categories: the date movie, the chick flick, and the macho guy movie.
The first of the three categories is the "date movie-. These movies typically consist of comedy, suspense, and horror films. Movies like American Pie and Scary Movie are good examples of comedic date films. They are both hysterical, and comedies leave most people in a good mood. Therefore people will probably enjoy their date a little more. Suspense thrillers and horror films also make good date movies. That is, if someone's game plan is to keep their date close to them. In which case, movies like What Lies Beneath, or Halloween would be good picks. Since these movies are scary it is likely that a person would latch onto their arm, or grab their hand. When someone hears that eerie music start to play their body tenses up and their heart starts racing. They might even bury their eyes in their date's shoulder. Sometimes date movies will have romance, but that is usually reserved for chick flicks.
The "chick flick- is the second of the three categories. Anything about women in general falls under this category. The main components of a chick flick are romance, drama, and comedy. Movies such as Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes are definitely examples of chick flicks. They have it all. These films are humorous, tear-jerking, heart-warming, romantic, and both portray women as the main character. Most musicals are classified as girl movies as well. For instance, The Sound of Music is a romantic musical in which "Maria-, the governess/nun falls in love with her employer.
