Community of practice is different from a work team or any network that concentrate on one topic, it is defined by knowledge rather than by an individual task. A work team is held together by a task and it will split up when the task is completed, yet people in a CoP can work in different organization structures; they just bring the knowledge that they develop in CoP into other tasks. Network of Practice (NoP) or virtual community of practice is similar to community of practice, which is a group share the same interest but it uses networked technology, especially the Internet to establish collaboration, exchange ideas and works across geographical barriers and time zones.
