Values and Serving in the Military

The first thing that I can probably say for all of us that is tested every day is integrity. Integrity is written many different ways yet all with the same meaning. Mia Saunders who attends the University of Cincinnati in the ROTC program there states in her handout , Army Values; "Integrity calls upon you to be honest and honorable in word and deed at all times " (p. 143). This means that doing what is right no matter who is watching or even anyone is watching. Integrity has always been taught to us as young ones to never lie when asked and we have always had lain upon us at a very young age.
The thought process of teamwork, loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage that I had learned along the way in chosen path during high school from sports and Air Force JR. Recruiting Officer Training Corp had definitely help lay my path and goals on who I am today. Knowing the processing of individual values started on the field and the court of sports. When you join a group, team, or a club there are certain values that come with the territory such as, a role in which you play, respecting the rank structure, a little selfless service and when all this come together you learn that you are a stronger person. Specifically the values that are instilled during this crucial time of your life is very vital to who you will become in the future. .
My duty came at a no surprise to my family since I have always had a sense of duty to either my baseball, ice hockey, basketball, football, boy scouts, and Air Force JRROTC and a few other things that I did while growing up. Yes, I do have AD/HD and ADD but that is what kept me going all these times. With all of this going on, I still knew I was still going my future is serving this country by joining the military no matter how my sports careers had turned out.
When I was growing up all I really had was myself. I mean my parents were divorced twice from each other and remarried already by the time I was five years old.
