Sex Education Reality Check

.
There is no dark side to this method for information. Teens are given everything they need to know in order to make decisions without being swayed too much in either direction. Young adults, who receive comprehensive sex education, are not introduced to sexual activities earlier, or more often for those already sexually active, because they are in no way being influenced to do anything. However, it has been seen to assist in decreasing transmitting STDs and STIs. Comprehensive sex education's effectiveness derives from ensuring that abstinence is the only 100% safe choice, but also encourages other options to those already engaged to protect both their partner and themselves with condoms, birth control, and other means of contraception.
Many support the abstinence-only approach as the ultimate option, arguing that teens are being taught the necessary skills to practice abstinence as well as its importance. In abstinence-only courses, teens obtain the tools they need to build self-esteem, self-control, and communication skills, as well as tools to improve decision making, character, and goal setting. These are all great skills to acquire, but is sex education the appropriate context for these lessons? Abstinence-only sex education rejects the idea of a natural, human experience and is ineffective in guiding young adults through responsible sexual activity. Teens are taught more about not having sex, than what happens when you do have sex, which leads to a considerable number of unplanned pregnancies and the misfortune of diseases and infections. This all emanates from the lack of knowledge. Instructors aggressively apply religious ideology which denounces sex, safe or not, to students partaking in the course. .
Not only does religion reject the idea of safe sex, but schools have also censored access to vital information in classrooms, libraries, and through public internet gateways.
