Julia Chong, a junior who recently got admitted into the Nursing program at Towson University, stated that "Towson has given great pre-Nursing advisors who from the beginning let [students] know the vigor of the coursework and the competitive nature of getting into the program." These advisors are available to students whenever they need them via appointment, phone call, or e-mail. In order to better prepare nursing students for their future career, they should be allowed to use the facilities they need whenever they can to help better experience in the program. For example, they should be able to have access to the clinical settings that they are limited to upon being accepted into the Nursing program. Chong suggests that "Towson could help nursing majors.by providing more clinical settings to enhance their experience in the major. This will help students be more aware of how things will be like in hospitals once they are out of college and looking for a job in Nursing. If students know how hospitals work earlier, then they will have an easier time getting accustomed to their new work environment. In "Challenges and Issues Facing the Future of Nursing Education: Implications for Ethnic Minority Faculty and Students ", Sheila Davis recommends twenty "goals " that Nursing programs should have. Davis thinks that they should "Commit to having a more culturally diverse student body and faculty" (126) in which Towson does have because a lot of upperclassmen that are of different races are in the nursing program.
Towson University prepares students for the world outside of Towson by allowing graduates to continue using the career counseling websites on the Towson website. These sites will help nursing graduates get their careers started by setting up appointments with professionals in their major. Although Towson tries its best to prepare its students to the best of its ability, sometimes it may not be enough to help get a nursing graduate a job.
