             As he froze to death, tied to a fence away from the city in which he resided, Matthew Shepard's only crime, was to be a twenty one year old homosexual student in the state of Wyoming. As the killers of Matthew Shepard wanted to erase him from the face of the earth, their plan backed fired. As the detectives searched for clue as to why a good student such as Shepard, was killed in such a heinous matter, the detectives found every clue that led them to believe that this was not just another crime, but a hate-crime, one of the lowest forms of crime that could only mean that the person who committed the crime would most likely be sentenced to death. Today, even after what happened to Matthew Shepard, a great part of the society in which we live, still believes that homosexuality is wrong, but with that sentiment the other half believes otherwise. .
             Steven Lofton and his partner Roger Croteau are raising children, including three Florida foster children whom are HIV positive, yet as they had raised one of the children for ten years, the state of Florida decided to take him away from them. Now Bert thirteen, has his parents fighting over him with the federal government because of a law passed that says gay and lesbian couple are not allowed to adopt kids, as said in article done by someone reporting about the Law suit being brought against the state of Florida by Steven Lofton and Roger Croteau. For situations similar to this one, homosexuals today have been the material of jokes for comedians. This material used by comedians, is used to ridicule a man or woman for what he or she believes in, this is discrimination. Now a day, churches do not believe in gay marriages and sometimes most pastors do not even help or hear gay people, they say they are sinning against god, this is also discrimination. Politicians today do not believe that the gay and lesbian equality issue should be touched upon, they say "is it not jus the right time yet.
