Sexual Predators - Irreversible Damage

The justification of the punishment does not constitute or warrant the early release of the offender. The early release of a sex offender diminishes the intended consequence of their sentence and often fails to act as a true deterrent for those wishing to repeat their crimes. Many local jails operate at or under the allowable or stated capacity. While, the state, federal, and private prisons exceeded or operate at near max-capacity. An inconceivable amount of individuals serving the largest sentence are incarcerated for drug related crimes while child molesters victimize countless innocents throughout their life. Yet these social pariahs serve the shortest sentences and are more likely to victimize children upon their release. .
The legal system appears to believe that a drug dealer is somehow more of a threat to society than a child abuser or sex offender. Illegal drug trafficking is a serious social issue, but there is a stark contrast between child molestation and drug trafficking. The drug user, by definition, includes themselves in the crime through their choice of taking the drug or selling, while the victim of sexual abuse makes no such decision. When children fall victim to sexual violence they are left feeling powerless, often threatened into silence and made to feel both shameful and somehow complicit in their act. The ramifications of the abuse can lead to many severe emotional problems leaving a child with the perception of having little control over their own life. There is no doubt that drugs use is a serious problem throughout the country, but the psychological, mental, and emotional destruction caused by child molestation places it in the same pantheon as murder. .
The reaction and disgust for pedophiles is not isolated to the world outside of the walls of a prison. In fact, most inmates have their own moral code, viewing the sexual predator as one of the lowest rung of criminals in the system, a view often held by the prison guards.
