My Career Goal - Becoming a Chiropractor

When I was fourteen, I injured my back playing competitive hockey. Through multiple treatments it wasn't getting better and I was forced to stay immobile. After a few treatments with a chiropractor, I was back on the ice enjoying the ability to participate without pain. Since then it has been my goal to become a chiropractor. I realized my talent for sports at a very early stage in my life. As a kid I took a fancy to playing outside, participating in all athletic events, and watching the older kids play sports. In school, I was determined to play as many sports as possible. I played everything from volleyball to hockey and even some contact games, for example, rugby and football. The human body and all of the miraculous things it could do fascinated me. My parents told me at a very young age that sports would help me gain an entrance into universities. In parallel to my passion for athletics, I was also developing a keen interest in rehabilitation and different health practices. More specifically, I was fascinated by the power of therapy and how it focuses on the recovery of the body in a variety of different methods. For the past five years I have been participating in college and university sports and this has greatly exposed me the difference of good therapists, compared to bad ones. I have had the privilege to coach and teach classes, which enables me to utilize my education to inform my athletes and students.
I genuinely want to acquire my Doctor of Chiropractic and do work with various sports teams as well as the general population. I want to take up a position where I could experience the procedures and therapy that is used to treat the highest functioning human bodies on the planet. I am looking for a development position in the chiropractic field where I can practice on the general public but also witness the intricate techniques performed on top-level athletes. Such a role would give me exposure to work and talk with clinicians and understand their reasoning's for using certain techniques as well as performing treatment to the highest functioning athletes.
