Dancing for My Life

Dance, for me, is a way to step out of my reality. The feel of the rhythm of the music and the swiftness of the movements equal an incredible sense of euphoria. The beat of the music bangs in my skull telling to move. The freeness of my movements consumes me. As I mature, I bloom in the garden of my own creativity. All my life, I have been searching for a way to be able to shine amongst the rest. I was a wallflower amidst the chaos known as society. Dancing was my personal bliss from all the hard times that I went through as a child and my adulthood. Dance brought me a way to exceed in both educational and physical aspects. The more you achieve the more confidence you receive. That is how I was able to do well in academics and dance. .
Stress was a main factor in the reason behind my decision to dance. At times, my schoolwork was too difficult to comprehend and I would just give up entirely. Dance has been there for me through my times of struggle and grief. Without it, I would not be able to cope with the challenges of school. School has always been overwhelming for me, considering all of the essays and exams, which were sometimes due on the same day all at once. Currently, I have my own dance crew and we perform in competitions along with other adolescents. We have won many competitions against people from all over the world. I am proud to say because of dance I was able to become a person with a lot of independence and leadership. I have learned many things from dance, but the most important lesson is to follow your dreams and try your best to reach them. .
