The Third World: Invention of the Cold War

The case in Asia, Vietnam for example, the US and USSR proxy role devoted little to accelerate the country's transition from a dependent colonized state to a liberalized social entity, but put the country under decades long split. Moreover, what exceeded their scope was the fact that, their intervention had elevated domestic hatred to an unexpected level, by putting religious and ethical groups of that area in confronted places. That had resulted in unwanted everlasting blooding and conflicts on Vietnam territory and among border countries. Beside direct armed intervention, US had found its way in by taking a series of unpublicized action to push forward political overthrown in cases where were civil fights. In some African countries, such as Congo, and some Middle and South America countries, such as Cuba and Chile, scenarios like CIA directed coup d'état or assassination were put on during their revolution journey. With no exception, this form of intervention by the US had resulted in long lasting political turmoil and social instability in those states.
As series of Proxy Wars being fought, the relationship between the First and Second world countries and the Third World was moving towards a historically new direction. There seemed had grown an unspoken agreement-----Third world countries can, either establish their state government and reform their system in the way that complies with Western development theories, or receive no aids at all and deemed unfriendly, unhuman, even evil enemies. Paul J. Zingg provided us a reference to see the US standpoint during the Cold War, "seeking initially the nonaligned nations being lured or frightened into the Soviet Camp, the United Stated undertook such massive material aid programs as Point Four and Mutual Security plan in order to bag its own share of third world allies. Between 1945 and 1960, for example, total expenditures on economic assistance and military aid under the mutual security plan umbrella alone amounted to $84 million.
