Values Education and a Better World

 

            Values Education is presenting true outlook of the development in our community. It is composed of guiding principles that help us to shape our own world and make a better version of it. Values Education is a character and moral education. It helps people to behave responsibly and help develop us, people, as personal and social beings. It helps us to determine which things are bad and things that are right, as well as the difference between right and wrong doings. It is a process where people will learn to apply the lessons effectively, seek for the development and treatment of personal and social issues, giving knowledge or ideas about the values or virtues that should be function, and help us to be open- minded of what are the things that we supposed to do in order to achieve the development we are all wanting and seeking for, not only about developing oneself but also in all aspects of development. Values education talks about character, spiritual development, personal development, social development, cultural development, religious education, family values scheme, and moral development. Values can take place at home, schools or universities, and in the community. Values can be innate or acquired. Innate values are the inborn virtues such as love, respect, honesty, humility, loyalty, responsibility, et. On the other hand, acquired values are those external values adopted while we are growing up. Today, we are facing a lot of problems in our country, like poverty, corruption, population problem, globalization, liberation, increasing rate of crimes, etc. It is important to inculcate values in our education and give more attention on this subject. .
             I have learned a lot in our Values Education. There are so many things that I have discovered in myself, as well as in my classmates, my professor, Mr. Depatillo, and in the society, even if we are only having classes every Saturdays and sometimes we hadn't, because of the typhoon.
