Leaders announced the newly declared state of Israel and fighting immediately breaks out between Israel and its Arab neighbors as British troops are leaving the country. This is when it all started and its been a devastating war since. Ongoing skirmishes between Israel and its Arab neighbors went on for years. Some key events such as the Suez Crisis or the formation of Palestinian liberation organization, etc. Let me go more into detail with these. See the Suez Crisis occurred in 1956 was when Israel invaded Egypt's Sinai Peninsula with help from from France and Britain. Then there was the Six-Day War, 1967, when Israel launched attack on Egyptian forces claiming it was a pre-empire (preventing attack by disabling the enemy) attack because Egypt had been taking down most of the areas around Israel already. The Yom Kippur war in 1973, Egyptian and Syrian forces launched a surprise attack on Israeli forces in Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula. U.S. provided support to prevent a possible Arab victory. In 1987 riots broke out between residents and Israeli troops. This was the first "intifada" which was a palestinian uprising against the Israeli occupation of the palestinian territories. This led to the formation of Hamas one of the key players in the Israeli-Gaza conflict. Hamas is a terrorist group of palestine and had risen in the late 1900's. Then the second "intifada", declared by Hamas occurred in 2000 and caused the death of Arafat in 2004. Yasser Arafat was a palestine lost most of their authorities over the territories. In 2004, Hamas won a majority in the palestinian parliament and Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas leader, became palestinian prime minister from December 2008-January 2009 Israeli forces re-enter Gaza and carry out major bombing and artillery attacks as a counterattack from rocket attacks on Israeli settlements from within Gaza by member of Hamar.
All of this violence still goes on today and has a huge impact on a lot of aspects of life for some people.
