This was not a place for a typical mortal man, not even for the strongest or bravest of warriors. Few people have gone in, never to be seen again. The twelve mightiest men of Avalon were set out to challenge the mortality of the creature, but deaths' fate took their lives before they escaped the forest. Beowulf was the only man capable of completing this task, and there was no assurance that he was even able to accomplish this endeavor.
The King of Avalon, named Yumboldt, sent out a special request to Beowulf. A dear friend of Beowulf, Yumboldt knew that if anybody had the ability to vanquish this malicious monster , it was the one and only Beowulf. Yumboldt offered Beowulf all the gold and treasure that he desired, but Beowulf respectfully declined. Beowulf promised to cease the maelstrom along with the death of the monster, for a personal victory, and moreover to help out his Avalonin ally. Beowulf began his journey across the Ambrosia gulf accompanied by two of his men. They were encountered by rough storms, scarce food supplies, and long nights. It took seven days for Beowulf and his fellow men to get across this brackish water, but they finally made it across to Avalon. As they approached the land, Beowulf and his two men were greeted by Yumboldt and his closest men. They contemplated how Beowulf was going to defeat this brute. They head to Yumboldt's kingdom where Beowulf would rest for the night before beginning his journey to slay the beast. .
Beowulf awoke early the next morning ready for battle. He left the castle alone and headed to the forest. He wanted to get an early start as he knew a long expedition was ahead of him. Beowulf approached the ghostly forest. Even though the sun was still shining upon the land, the forest was pitch black. As he entered this unknown forest, creatures began to stare hungrily at the king. These demons envied his heart and bravery, but guaranteed his death among others.
