And the Best Actress Is...

Kurt Vonnegut once said, "Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things". This has been my favorite quote since I was a child, yet I have never realized how it has applied to my life. Not until my name was announced for the best actress academy award, did I finally understand the meaning of this quote. In order to get to the point in life I had gotten to, I had a colossal amount of work. This work started since I was little, but it took me a long time to realize that it had begun. My career has started from three little things I did as a child. It started from getting picked for public speeches at school, little self-written plays for my cousins, and my big role in one drama my church did. My life as an actress had started without me even knowing.
To start off, I could lie and say that immediately I was the star of every single production put on at my church, but in all honesty, my career started off more embarrassing then that. At my school, when I lived with my grandma, they would crown a school queen of the carnival and a white nun orchid (The National Flower of Guatemala). Annually the school would host a huge carnival, with fundraisers, prizes, dance routines, and even 5K races. At every yearly carnival, a queen and a white nun orchid would be announced toward the end, but the queen and the white orchid, would be aware of this fact a week in advance. Somehow, I always got picked for queen, and ended up having to prepare a speech. Yet at the beginning, I was afraid of making a fool of my self in front of the whole school. However, my grandma was so proud of this accomplishment she pressured me more a bout my diction, poise, way of dressing, and even made me practice my speech twice a day. But, the feeling at the pit my stomach, the first time I won was interminably there. I still remember the aura of nervousness radiating off me.
